These books are softbound, like the best made paperback you'll ever own! 

OUTSIDE

These books are all covered with a variety of hand printed papers, some single coloures, some hand coloured. The prints themselves are made on antique, handmade, text-printed paper. 

THE PAPER INSIDE

Filled with handmade Hatakami paper made from fibres found in the foothills of the Himalayas.

Hatakami is similar to Japanese washi. It's a fibrous, lightweight paper. It isn't suitable for very wet media such as watercolour but works well with inks and gouache although suitability to specific inks is subject to trial and error.

LAYFLAT

A limp flexible binding rather than a hardback binding, these are perfectly practical in the studio or in the field, opening as flat as can be, giving full access to the papery real estate.

Whilst these books are straighforward bindings without some of the bells and whistles found on their more expensive cousins, we still employ the same high standards and techniques to create them, including hand sewing the pages and binding them in such as way to ensure that the spine won't pop when the book is fully opened.
