SCOTTISH WHEEL BINDING

Style: An elaborate, decorative style of 18th-century bookbinding that is the second distinctively Scottish binding style, following the earlier "herringbone" patterns. Design: It typically features a central wheel motif, created using tools like the "sceptre tool" and surrounded by intricate details like stars, floral designs, and other decorative elements. Origin: The style is thought to have evolved from European "fan" bindings of the preceding century and was popular in Scotland, with notable examples found on books like 18th-century Old and New Testaments.

INSIDE:

It contains 212 pages of blank, smooth surfaced, British-made cartridge paper which is ideal for both writing and drawing in inks and pencil.

The fore edges of the block are sprinkled in soft red ink.

All Properly Made Books are made to open completely flat...
