Dutch Gilt paper was widely made in the 17th and 18th century in Germany and often used as decorative covers or end papers in books.
Wee Flowers is from our series of entirely handmade small Dutch Gilt prints and suitable for framing or keeping in a secret draw and looking at every now and then!
The patterns are carved by hand in lino and the prints made using a relief process using golden metal leaf instead of ink. The paper the prints are made on is handmade in the studio in Scotland,
These are made in a stenciled background, the process can be seen (kind of!) in the accompanying photos with the hand cut block and a hand coloured variation.
