Made by J Barcham Green at Hayle Mill in Kent, England.
Chatham Vellum was and is one of the most important so-called "vellum papers" for calligraphy and of course botanical watercolour and other highly detailed art where fine lines are vital.
Made from the strongest cotton rags and sized with Aquapel making it acid-free and archival. It has a very hard and a very smooth surface
We're not totally certain when these were made but we think late 1970s or early 1980s. It was made on one of Barcham Green's FJ Head mould and so features two watermarks; FJ Head and Handmade.
Please note that as a lightweight sheet this is more suited to fine line work than vast watercolour washes.
