A dos-a-dos binding is two books bound in reverse and separately yet still in one structure.
Other than being unusual outside of the 17th century, these beautiful bindings also feature:
Dutch Gilt Brocade paper covers - printed by the Jefferys entirely by hand on 300+ year old antique handmade paper using metallic golden leaf. Dutch Gilt is a type of paper totally unique to us and was last made in the 18th century to cover children's books.
Gold tooled vellum spines and corners. The vellum has been salvaged from ancient legal documents which is still legible.
Sprinkled decorative foredges
A bespoke box, again covered in decorative Jeffery papers on 300+ year old antique paper.
140 pages (280 sides) of smooth cartridge paper suitable for ink and pencil, bound in two sections, dos-a-dos!
Size - 95 x 150 mm, 3 3/4 x 6 inches
Supplied in its own bespoke box which has been covered in hand printed paper.
This is one of six and the only one made with this design of cover.
