Book Block - Cream, unbound A5 books

Regular price £8.99

Have you ever wanted to make a book but couldn't be bothered or didn't know how to make the insides properly? Yes, us too!

So buy a book block and make a great looking book.

A book block is an unbound book - a book without covers. It's the inside papery part.

All you will need to do is make a cover (also known as casing in). You can make a hard or soft cover and use decorative paper, book cloth or even leather as the covering material. See the instructions below. If you want to make a hardcover book then choose the option which includes our chunky 2mm grey board.

Size: A5, 210 x 145 mm (5.83 x 8.27 inches)

Page Count: 144 pages ( 288 sides )

Paper: 90 gsm, cream, laid, acid-free , unruled paper.

The paper is text weight, useful for drawing (pencil and ink), writing and journal keeping. The laid surface of the paper gives the book a more traditional feel with a very subtle texture. The front and back sheets of the block are a heavier weight paper, two to each side and can be used as plain endpapers with fly sheets

These are made in Italy, they are folded, sewn and glued to a very high standard. 99% of the notebooks you find in top-end department stores use these book blocks or similar models from the same manufacturer.

You can make a hardback or soft covered (limp) book, covered in decorative paper, cloth or leather.

Here's a YouTube tutorial which shows you how to make a case (cover) for a pre-made book block.

See accompanying photos of examples of these blocks cased in with real wood veneer and leather with adhesive book spines.

These are available to buy with two sheets of grey board to make a hardback book.
