One of a series of three pocket notebooks bound in antique vellum.
These books measure 4½ x 3¼ inches, 117 x 84mm.
These books are made from recycled antique materials with a minimalist, elegant touch of gold leaf tooling.
The covering material comes from antique vellum legal documents. Vellum (aka parchment), like leather, is an animal skin product but it's processed differently to leather to give a strong, papery surface.
About vellum - In the UK, until the 1920s, vellum was widely used in important legal documents (loans, documents, mortgages, wills etc) because it was and remains the strongest of writing surfaces, its strength, flexibility and longevity prized. Under normal conditions, vellum is virtually indestructible.
Each of the books in the series are the same size but decorated uniquely - no two books are the same.
As with all Properly Made Books , this notebook opens totally flat and even beyond flat (the photo above showing the covers folded effortlessly back a full 360 degrees) ensuring it will withstand years of rigorous real-life, every day use.
