Regular price €13.363,95

Dating to the early 20th century, this pair of large sample books is believed to be the only surviving set in the world.

Featuring large specimens (15 x 10 inch) of all the handmade paper produced by Whatman up to around 1915, it includes two bindings of ledger and writing papers, and extra weight drawing and other papers. Each type is identified with its name, weight, surface, and size.

Collectors, conservators, museums, and libraries may find this piece invaluable in identifying papers used by historic artists.

Never available on the open market, it is indeed a rare treasure.

Included are three letterpress blocks used by Whatman to print other sample books distributed to wholesalers and retailers.
