Properly Made Books are made over a period of weeks and months.
Imagine how a book was made in the 18th century - this is precisely how our books are crafted. They are bound entirely by hand in Scotland to the absolute highest standard using traditional techniques and only the finest quality materials
All Properly Made Books are LayFlat allowing them to open fully without causing any structual damage and making them completely usable in the field or studio.
Properly Made Books are technically superior to any other off the shelf book.
The reason for this is because our books are made in the same way books were made before 19th century mechanical intervention, when, for the sake of mass production efficiency and cost, books were made by machine, simplifying but compromising the structure of a book in the name of economy.
Since then, most, if not all handmade books available as off-the-shelf items have been made in a way which replicates machine-made books, which is why, if you try to open one of these non Properly Made Books a full 360 degress, the spine will pop and break. Not so with Properly Made Books.
