This is THE prototype for the very first Properly Made Book!

Back in the day when Vintage Paper Co were simply paper merchants, I had the idea that occasionally making books filled with interesting paper would be quite a nice idea.  Of course VPCo is now a business that makes books filled with beautiful paper who occasionally act as paper merchants! Funny where life takes you.

I gave some paper to John Jeffery and asked him to make me something. When he gave this back to me I was amazed - such a beautiful book.

This binding is covered with a heavily varnished, hand coloured print, a gold tooled vellum spine and corners. 

Inside it has 32 pages of wonderful, handmade, vintage, textured, WS Hodgkinson cotton rag watercolour paper. 

In short, this is THE prototype for all of our subsequent Properly Made Books.
