The Huntsman is a luxurious, limited series of leather-bound, Properly Made Books in beautifully hand crafted leather bags, all entirely handmade in Scotland.

One of six in the Ramble series of gold tooled bindings within matching dark chocolate brown bags featuring white thread and matching or complimentary hand tooled patterns to the front. 

This series also includes the VPCo Solid Brass Pencil.

THE BOOK

One of only six in the Ramble series, this binding features gold tooling to the front and back covers, within blind tooled panels, and simple gold tooling to the spine.

The foredges of the books are sprinkled in pale red ink, a decorative flourish adding to the overall finesse. 

A Properly Made Book is crafted by hand to the very highest standard, ensuring years of use. Made using the same techniques and materials as books made in the 18th century, these are as good as a book gets and far beyond anything else available off the shelf in terms of quality and character.

Deliberately made to be opened a full 360°, these robust books are equally at home in the studio or in the field. 

Measuring 5½ x 4½ inches (140 x 115mm) and filled with more than 200 pages of British-made cartridge paper perfect for use with pencils, inks and other media. 

THE BAG

The books are supplied in a made-to-measure chocolate brown leather field bag with white stitching.

Each bag is embossed four times to the front with a motif which either matches of complements the book it holds. 

Just like the books, these bags are made to the highest standard by hand in Scotland. The leather panels are cut and sewn by hand, the edges burnished and finished with the best quality solid brass hardware. Inside, each bag is lined in luxurious soft pigskin.

Each bag features an embossed belt loop and a leather, detachable, adjustable crossbody strap equipped with solid brass hardware.

THE VPCo Solid Brass Pencil - a pencil, but not as you know it.

These pencils are machined in solid brass with a graphite tip, exactly the same as a traditional pencil but with a twist, literally.

The VPCo Brass Pencil writes, draws, shades and erases like any other pencil but it'll likely never need sharpening.

This graphite is at least 4x harder than that found in a traditional pencil and much longer lasting, but if a change is needed, these nibs easily screw in and out in seconds.

In our experience, a change will only be required because the graphite is quite brittle and may break if dropped which is why we supply it with plenty of replacement nibs.   

IN THE HAND

Crafted from solid brass, these pencils command a pleasing heft when in the hand.

Supplied in a polished finish, which can easily be maintained with a little bit of Brasso, if left unpolished, they develop a pleasing, vintage-tool patina. It's your choice. 

As part of this package we also include a matching leather pencil holder. This (handmade, of course) little thing can be attached to the crossbody strap or to the bag closure tab on the front of the bag keeping everything together when you're on the go.
