This beautiful paper is typical of its time - perfect for adding to a collection of for using in fine-art for writing, drawing and printmaking. 

HISTORY

This paper was handmade in Auverge, France in 1742. 

From the 15th - 19th century Auvergne was one of the most important papermaking regions in France. 

The Paper

There are two sheets available indentical except for the watermarks. The sheets are a typical colour for the era - a creamy pinky natural white.

The shield appears to show two creatures, possibly griffens rampant on either side of a person or angel(?), a crown atop and 1742 within an oval underneath

Condition

Showing signs of age. This paper was removed from a book, there are sewing holes and slight fold marks in the centre of each page.
