HATAKAMI are a family of hand decorated papers created using a variety of printmaking techniques on handmade Nepalese paper.
The acid-free paper is made from an indigenous plant called lokta which has many qualities including character, durability and strength.
Lokta is a plant found and harvested in an area of more than a million hectares in Nepal which is recognised as one of the world's most underutilized resources.
Paper in Nepal has been made in the same way for up to 1900 years; the plant is harvested by men and the papermaking process by the womenfolk.
HATAKAMI is suitable for many crafts including bookbinding, box covering, decoupage, collage, interior design, wallpaper lampshades, furniture and many others.
SIZE: 50 x 75 cm, 19 1/2 x 29 1/2 inches (approximately)
Some papers are available in smaller sizes - a quarter piece taken from a full sheet.
Hatakami are pursuing a program to ensure fair pay, good working conditions and access to education and health care for the people concerned in the production of their products.
